DAVID P. GORDON (Set Design)David P. Gordon has designed scenery for over 300 productions, having worked extensively on and Off-Broadway, and for opera companies and regional theatres in this country and abroad.

Recent credits include: NY: Trilogy (Juilliard Opera); All’s Well That Ends Well (Theatre For A New Audience); Happy Days with Lea DeLaria (CSC); The Two Noble Kinsmen (NYSF/Public Theater); String Fever with Cynthia Nixon (Ensemble Studio Theatre); Princess Turandot and Hotel Universe (Blue Light Theatre Co.); Cheat and Two-Headed (Women’s Project and Productions); Hard Times (Pearl Theatre Co.) and Vilna’s Got a Golem (American Jewish Theatre).

Regional credits include numerous productions for Goodspeed Musicals; Huntington Theatre Co.; Long Wharf Theatre; Williamstown Theatre Festival; The Old Globe; Hartford Stage; Westport Country Playhouse; Chicago Shakespeare Theatre; Wilma Theater; McCarter Theatre; Arden Theatre Co.; Two River Theatre Co.; Walnut St. Theatre; Phila. Theatre Co.; Kennedy Center; Maltz Jupiter Theatre; People’s Light & Theatre Co; and many others.
Opera credits include: Braunfels’ Die Vogel (LA Opera-also released internationally on Arthaus Musik DVD); The Magic Flute (Opera Theatre of St. Louis); Bastien and Bastienne (Lincoln Center); The Consul (Seattle Opera); Madama Butterfly (Florida Grand Opera); the world premiere of Stephen Paulus’ Summer (Berkshire Opera Co.) and 30 productions for Sarasota Opera over 21 consecutive seasons.

In 1991 he was invited to design Arthur Miller’s A View From the Bridge for the State New Experimental Theatre of Volgograd, Russia, which stayed in the company’s repertory for over two years.

Mr. Gordon has received five Barrymore Awards and fourteen nominations for Outstanding Scenic Design for his work in the Philadelphia area, and was the recipient of the 2003 Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Scenic Design for his designs for The Blue Demon at the Huntington Theatre Co. in Boston. He has also been nominated for Carbonel, CT Critics Association and IRNE awards.

A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Mr. Gordon currently serves as Associate Professor of Set Design at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University.
