The Summit Entertainment team is thrilled to announce this summer’s latest additions to our roster: Lighting Designer KATE ASHTON and Scenic Designer SIBYL WICKERSHEIMER!
We are so pleased to have KATE ASHTON, a lighting designer we have worked with for some time, join the Summit family. Kate’s recent work includes Chaos (Abu Dhabi), Medea, DR.C, Death of a Salesman, The Apostle Project, Moonchild (all with Theater Mitu, Resident Artist), Divorce Party: The Musical (original production and U.S. tour), A Play on War and Blind Mouth Singing (NAATCO), Tape (dir. Sam Helfrich), Rods and Cables (3-Legged Dog), Summer and Smoke (Theatre Row), A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (Henry Hewes Award nomination) and Another Part of the Forest (Peccadillo Theatre Company), Bristol Riverside Theatre’s Laughter on the 23rd Floor, Pride and Prejudice, Steel Magnolias, Up, and the Summer Musicales Series, The Winter’s Tale (Columbia University), The Danish Meditations/Slots, and Girl Talk. Opera: Armide, L’Incoronazione di Poppea, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Juilliard), Nina O Sia La Pazza Per Amore (U.S. Premiere), La Doriclea, Falstaff, Nine, and La Bohème (Manhattan School of Music). Music: Tango, Song, and Dance at the Kennedy Center (dir. Ed Berkeley). Dance: Skybetter and Associates, Syren Modern Dance, James Sutton and Anthony Ferro, Jim Martin Music/Dance, and Emily Harper’s Natural Dissection. She holds a BA from the College of William & Mary and MFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
Summit also extends the warmest welcome to SIBYL WICKERSHEIMER, Scenic Designer and visual artist. Sibyl’s regional set design credits include productions at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Portland Center Stage, Lookingglass Theatre, Berkeley Repertory, Arizona Theatre Company, The Kirk Douglas Theatre, The Geffen Playhouse, and South Coast Repertory. Sibyl’s work also includes over 10 productions at The Actors’ Gang where designs for 1984 and The Trial of the Catonsville 9, have toured to 5 continents. Among the many smaller but adventurous companies Sibyl has enjoyed worked with are Hand2Mouth, Portland Playhouse, The Piven Theatre, Circle X and Industry LA. Outside of the traditional theatre space, Sibyl has created a modular stage for the large scale dinosaur puppet performances at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, and designed Toy Story Musical for a Disney cruise ship, Industry LA’s Crescent City:a hyperopera, and the set for Diavolo Dance Company’s Transit Space. Her visual art and installations have been exhibited in Los Angeles at Hi-Lite, Weekend, The New Chinatown Barber Shop, Gallery 825, Shoshane Wayne Gallery, Andrew Shire Gallery, Hatch Gallery, Latch, and the Pacific Asia Museum. Sibyl is also an Assistant Professor in the USC School of Dramatic Arts. She studied theatre and art history for a B.A. at Washington University and received a M.F.A. at UCLA School of Theatre, Film, and Television in 1999. Check out her work at www.sawgirl.com.
